Finally found a name

After a couple weeks of trying to figure out what the husky’s name should be I’ve finally found it.

Blaez

Blaez means ‘wolf’ in an old Celtic language. This will probably be the secret meaning as I don’t really want to add to the notion that a husky is any more wolf like than any other dog. But it just felt like the name I was looking for. Especially when added with some of the English definitions for the word ‘blaze’.

  • A white spot or stripe on the face of an animal. (you can see it in the picture above)
  • To shine or be resplendent. (I think this kinda fits his one blue eye)
  • Mark out a path or route. (he is a sled dog)
  • Burn fiercely or brightly. (fits his personality at times)

So Blaez it is. It has a lot of hidden meaning between both the Celtic and English definitions, it has that ‘action’ word feel (like Rocket) that I think I was looking for, and it’s a fun spelling twist from the English pronunciation of blaze.

Now that he has a name I can start uploading all these great pics of him. ;)
